Women’s Business Leader Tanis Cornell Makes Gift to MMRF in Her Estate Plan

Photo of the Cornell familyMultiple Myeloma patient Tanis Cornell, who runs a company that helps women executives and business owners, is giving back to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) through her estate plan because she believes in our approach.

“We’ve always participated in charitable giving—and as part of our financial planning have incorporated giving into our estate plan,” she says about the planning she has done with her husband Don.

Tanis, who lives in Dallas, was fortunate to receive an early diagnosis.

“As a cancer patient diagnosed with early stage MM, I’m very interested in the research taking place to create new and more effective treatments,” she says. “We love the approach the MMRF takes to sharing information across institutions to accelerate the pace of progress.”

Originally from Enid, Oklahoma, Tanis moved to Texas for college at Abilene Christian University and the University of North Texas. Tanis and Don have three children and one granddaughter. Before starting her own company, she had a long corporate career in the technology industry.

“Having a technology background, I’m very excited about the MMRF’s approach to using machine learning and eventually AI to accelerate the pace of research and improve the outcomes for patients,” she says. “They have established a tremendous research model in which they have pooled together a consortium of research facilities around the globe to build the largest set of genomic data in the world for cancer research. Their pioneering model is one that has garnered great interest in other areas of cancer research. The MMRF is leading the way.”

Tanis is co-owner and CEO of EWF International, a leadership development company that increases the representation of women in executive roles and supports women business owners. She is an advisory board member of the Alliance of Women and Technology and a sought-after speaker on women’s career issues, business growth, and marketing issues.

“I am passionate about helping women leaders grow their businesses and increase their effectiveness,” she says. “I strive to help women gain the skills and knowledge needed to excel and to meet their personal and professional goals.”
